Infant flours produced in the Sahel, a key value chain for young child feeding practices

Together with GRET and Iram, The French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD) conducted a study on “The locally produced infant flour value chain in six Sahelian countries (Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal and Chad)”. This study was conducted with technical and financial support from the UNICEF West and Central Africa Regional Office, and it served as a basis at the consultative meeting on improvement of access to and use of sustainable, affordable, healthy and nutritious foods for children aged 6-23 months in West and Central Africa organised in February 2020 in Dakar.

The main conclusions and recommendations of the study informed discussions on the determinants and obstacles for improvement of young child feeding practices.
